Preparing a law firm for acquisition

One of the oldest law firms in England, Gregg Latchams had seen its fair share of name changes and 'names above the door'. In early 2020 it was decided the firm needed a new brand identity to resonate with a new generation of clients, and to align with succession plans.

Rebranding a centuries-old Bristol institution was a daunting challenge. We interviewed the leadership team, staff members and clients old and new, to dig deeper into the dynamics of the business. It all came back to one truth - people need lawyers when life throws them a curveball. From divorce to death, and legal disputes to business issues, Gregg Latchams help people through the (often challenging) hiccups in life.

It all started with a shortened name: GL Law. With free rein to craft a radically new look and feel, we developed a bright, vibrant colour palette with bold graphics and the strapline ‘Legal advice that brings balance to life’.  Alongside the rebrand we created a new website including copywriting and new tone of voice, user experience design, and bespoke build. 

We planned the rebrand launch to coincide with an integrated advertising campaign including print and out of home media placement.

In 2022, GL Law was acquired by national firm, Shakespeare Martineau.
