Since the mid-2000’s, the popularity of cheap flights, the increase in internet travel shopping, and a 16 year absence from the high street, it’s been a long, uphill journey for Bakers Dolphin, the South West’s largest coach operator.

When we started working with Bakers Dolphin, the brand was confused, fragmented and, well, just a bit dull. Our task was to inject some fun into the brand, create clarity of message and reposition Bakers Dolphin as the local travel expert; our goal to bring an established name to the front of people’s minds and recruit a new generation of customers.

Today, Bakers Dolphin are a multi-award winning coach operator. They have since returned to the high street where they began, thriving online and offering more choice than ever before.

Our work

We have helped position Bakers Dolphin as the "Experts in coach travel since 1889", avoiding the industry battle of competing on price. At every touchpoint, the customer is reminded of the great service they offer, promoting loyalty schemes, customer reunion tours and a friendly, knowledgable travel team. The flagship travel brochures are colourful, with more engaging content, focusing on customer experience just as much as destination. Clear layouts offer better legibility for our older audiences and make it easy for the customer to navigate through. We art direct the photoshoots for brochures, which involve creating lifestyle situations and photographing the entire coach fleet outdoors.

The travel industry moves quickly, often driven by the uptake at key seasonal points. We collaborate closely with Bakers Dolphin to hit each deadline and successfully deliver summer and Christmas mailers, late availability leaflets, posters for travel shops and regular production of days out booklets which feature a comprehensive offering of events, tours and gig tickets.

We created the web site for Bakers Dolphin and hold responsibility for managing regular updates and keeping content fresh. A challenge here was creating a site that can successfully synchronise with their existing booking system. The site uses a MODX content-managed system, that provides complete control without the need for complicated interfaces.
